Chemical properties:

It becomes a green solution after boiling with water for a long time. Scorching in the air becomes chromium trioxide. It can be sublimated in a stream of chlorine, and co-heated with carbon tetrachloride at 400°C can obtain a kinetic inert purple anhydrate. There are three variants of hexahydrate, dark green, light green, and purple. They all become a mixture of dark green and purple in aqueous solutions, but appear dark green in organic solvents such as DMSO, DMF, and ethanol.

It is usually slightly harmful to water bodies. Do not expose undiluted or large amounts of products to groundwater, waterways or sewage systems, and do not discharge materials into the surrounding environment without government permission.

Uses:

Used for making chromium salt, chromium plating and as mordant, etc. Used as a mordant in the printing and dyeing industry; used for chromium plating in the electroplating industry; used in the production of other chromium salts in the chemical industry; used in the production of various chromium-containing pigments in the pigment industry; used in the production of chromium catalysts in organic synthesis and also used as decomposition reagents. Its solution can absorb oxygen.
